Acne and zits are caused by one of three things - hormonal Changes, an unbalanced diet or improper skin care (or a combination of each) All of these things contribute to Acne (Spots, Zits, and Pimples) depending on your biological make up. Acne can mean more to some people than just bad looking skin. It can bring your self-esteem down and in some even cause depression; it can leave scars and can sometimes cause quite a bit of pain. But is there an easy way to prevent acne?
25 years ago, before facial washes and drugs acne was part of growing up, a right of passage, some say. It was something you had to put up with (especially in your teens) unless you were lucky enough not to get it. But now a day’s acne can easily be avoided due to the amount of skin care products on the market. Shop shelves are filled with treatments. The net is full of herbal treatments and doctors can supply drugs that help to clear up your skin and prevent scarring.
But what works? What doesn’t? Of course it’s different for each individual, but if like most you’ve tried everything you can get your hands on you will probably be quite frustrated by now. Sometimes your body will give you spots, no matter what you try to do to avoid them.
But there are a few simple things you can do that can make all the difference. Drinking lots of water helps hydrate your skin (and is obviously very good for you anyway) so try and drink 8 glasses a day, the more the better. Eating more healthily is obvious but it does make a lot of difference, try and eat lots of fruit and vegetables, not greasy or fatty food. Wash your face three times a day - morning, after lunch and before you go to bed. Try not to touch your face or spots as your hands will always have germs on them. And although direct strong sunlight isn’t good for you, a bit of sun is amazing for clearing up your skin. (Be very careful though.)
